The Annual Fund: Bridging the Gap
The 2024-2025 Annual Fund is underway & and we need you!
The Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork is completely dependent on our extremely generous community of families, grandparents, alumni and friends! Annual Fund gifts fill a critical gap, allowing WSRF to offer its rich programming in full to every student and bridge the gap between tuition revenue and operating expenses.
Without the annual fund, WSRF would be unable to provide a full, dynamic Waldorf Education in the Roaring Fork Valley.
We are striving for 100% family, faculty/staff and Board of Trustee participation!
Many donations to the WSRF Annual Fund are eligible for the Colorado Child Care Contribution Tax Credit (CCCC), giving a generous 50% of the contributed amount back to the donor. Please contact your financial advisor for more information and read more here.

Why does the Annual Fund matter?
Annual Fund impacts everything! It pays for the books in the library, the salary of your favorite teacher, the paint brushes for art class, the Petri dishes for chemistry, Eurythmy slippers, financial aid, building repairs and much, much more. The annual fun makes up critical funds that bridge the gap between tuition revenue & operating expenses, our school simply could not open our doors to welcome students without this collective effort.
Doesn’t tuition cover all operating expenses?
Tuition covers about 75% of annual expenses. The remainder must be funded by other sources. In most independent schools, the annual fund is the most important element, in amount but most importantly, participation levels. Outside grants & other non-profit funding opportunities look to our community engagement first & foremost, meaning annual fund impacts all funding.
What are the major components of the school’s annual operating budget?
Salaries & benefits comprise 85% of our operating budget. The remaining balance includes curricular & co-curricular programs, financial aid, equipment, supplies, utilities, insurance , maintenance & all additional expenses.
Why is 100% participation important?
The school’s financial strength depends upon participation of the entire community. Parent participation levels are viewed as a key barometer of support & reviewed by foundations & outside funders when considering grants & gifts to the school. That we all give together, outshines how much is given.
How much should we give?
Truly, every dollar counts. WSRF’s success is thanks to the collective effort of incredible individuals, each giving what they can, to support a greater mission. WSRF’s success is thanks to the collective effort of incredible individuals, each giving what they can, to support a greater mission.
The school’s vision, to education children for intellectual integrity, moral character and global citizenship has never been more relevant. Our goal is 100% participation for a reason. Please join us in giving as much as we can, knowing our collective effort amounts to incredible impact.
What does it mean to be an Independent School?
Independent means we receive $0 in federal or state funding. It also means our curriculum is delivered in its fullest form & WSRF is accredited through the Association of Waldorf Schools North America (AWSNA).
