Need to run an errand? Work every Monday until 4:30pm? Have an unexpected appointment arise? These programs are designed to be flexible and supportive for families needing additional care after school or opportunities for more connection for their students.

Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork’s After-School Programs are available for children ages 2.5 and up, every school day from 3:15-5:00pm*

Programs are split into an Early Childhood group and Grades programs to suit the needs of children across ages. Drop in or sign up for the whole year! Plus, special programs are offered in rotating sessions with past offerings including breakdancing, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, fly fishing and chess club!

 

Early Childhood: Ages 2.5 (potty-trained) to 6 years

Students ages 2.5 years to 6 years (and potty trained) are invited every Monday through Friday until 5pm* (see dates specifics below) for our after care program. The program is led by our dedicated teacher, Joshua Margolis and includes a healthy, nourishing snack and time to play outside.

Early Childhood aftercare is available at the aftercare drop-in rate or sign up for the whole year, see rates below. Sign up for drop-in by calling the front office the day off and sign up in advance via the FACTS Family Portal.

Alpenglow: Grades 1st to 8th

With a dedicated lead teacher, Rachel Cohen, every afternoon the Alpenglow group is designed specifically for students in Grades 1st to 8th and is available every Monday through Friday until 5pm* (see dates specifics below). This group includes time for homework for upper grades students and games or crafts for lower grades. A tasty, healthy snack is also a part of the afternoon programs. This program is available for drop in!

Alpenglow is available at the Aftercare Drop in rate (drop in always available) or sign up for the whole year, see rates below. Sign up for drop-in by calling the front office the day of and sign up in advance via your FACTS Family Portal.

Special Grades Programs

We offer a rotating selection of after school programs specifically for grades students from 1st to 8th grade students. From flyfishing to ultimate frisbee to volleyball and breakdancing, typing, tumbling there is something for everyone. These programs are offered by session with drop-ins available for many programs. We typically run a fall collection, winter collection and spring collection of programs. These programs have their own sign up and drop in costs, see sign up form for details. After School Time & Date Details: Early Childhood & Alpenglow

*Aftercare is offered Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays 3:15-5:00pm (3:00-5:00pm for Kinderhaus students) and Wednesdays 2:15-5:00pm.

Fridays include 12:00-5:00pm care for early dismissal days with specific details for the following dates in the school year:

  • 8/30: Labor Day Weekend Early release: aftercare provided until 5pm

  • 9/27: Michaelmas: Aftercare provided until 5pm

  • 11/22: Thanksgiving break begins: No aftercare provided

  • 12/6: Winterfaire set up: Aftercare provided until 5pm

  • 12/19: Winter break begins: No aftercare provided

  • 3/13: Parent Teacher conferences: aftercare provided until 5pm

  • 4/18: Spring Weekend: No aftercare provided

  • 5/2: Mayfaire set up: Aftercare provided until 5pm

  • 5/30: Last day of school: No aftercare provided

Late Pickup Policy: You will be charged a drop-in rate of $16/hour if your child is not picked up by 15 minutes after regular school dismissal (one hour minimum, $10.00 per additional sibling, per hour).

After School Program Rates for Early Childhood & Alpenglow

Drop-in rate: $16/hour, $10/hour siblings for Early Childhood and alpenglow programs. Please RSVP by calling the front office at (970) 963-1960 as far in advance as possible to alert the school of any drop ins so the school can plan staffing accordingly.

After School Program FAQs

  • If I am running late unexpectedly, can my student go to the after school program (aftercare)?

    Yes, students can attend aftercare on a drop in basis on a day of basis, space pending. Please call the front office as soon as possible at (970) 963-1960 to inform them of the need for your student to stay later than normal dismissal. The front office will also ensure the message reaches your student so they know where to go after school.

  • How late can my student stay in the after school program?

    Aftercare is available until 5pm Monday-Friday. Emergency contacts will be called if students are not picked up by 5:30pm.

  • Is the after school program available on early dismissal days?

    Yes, most half days the after school program is available with the exception of the last day before the Thanksgiving break begins, the last day before the Winter break begins and on the last day of school. See above in the ‘After School Program Times’ section for more details on schedule exceptions.

  • Can I prepay for after school program for the entire year?

    Yes, you can pay via FACTS for the entire year, by day. Rates listed above and on FACTS. Advanced payment is at a discounted rate from the drop in rate

  • How am I billed for drop-in After School program days?

    When a student attends the after school program on a drop-in, they will be invoiced via mail by the school. Invoices must be paid within stated time period.

  • What is the structure of the After School program?

    Children are provided a nourishing snack, time for indoor and outdoor play, arts, crafts, and gardening as well as time for homework for older children. Or specific programs are offered on different days of the week for older students (see above note on ‘Upper Grades Programs’)

After School Program Policies and Procedures

  • After School Program is available for current WSRF students attending Pre-K through grade 8. All regular FACTS registration forms must be on file in the office before a child can be accepted.

  • WSRF students who are on school grounds and not under direct parental supervision after dismissal will be signed in to the After School Program by a WSRF staff member on a drop-in basis.

  • Parents (or legal guardians) must sign out students on official attendance sheet.

  • Students will be dismissed from After School Program only to the person(s) listed in FACTS as authorized pick-ups. A parent must notify the office in advance if someone different is to pick up the student.

  • The minimum daily charge for the After School Program is one hour and is billed in half- hour increments thereafter. Parents will incur a late fee for any child left after 5:00 pm charged a drop-in rate of $16/hour if your child is not picked up by 15 minutes after regular school dismissal (one hour minimum, $10.00 per additional sibling). Emergency contacts will be called if students are not picked up by 5:30pm.

  • Pre-paid After School Program fees must be paid even if a student is absent or picked up early. There will be no refunds or exchange of dates.

  • Anyone failing to adhere to the policies, procedures, and the payment schedule may be requested to leave the program.
