Michaelmas Soup Assignments
A highlight of Michaelmas is our shared, community meal, when the entire school community (including parents!) come together in celebration to share a meal, created by a collective effort. To fulfill this effort, we ask all our families to contribute the following:
Please send your child to school with their ingredients on Thursday, September 29th. Thank you for contributing to our all-school meal!
8th Grade: Two to three carrots, chopped
7th Grade: Two stalks of celery, chopped
6th Grade: One large onions, chopped
5th Grade: One large onions, chopped
4th Grade: One large zucchini, chopped
3rd Grade: Two stalks of celery, chopped
2nd Grade: Two to three carrots, chopped
1st Grade: One small bag of frozen corn
Moonflower: One (12 oz.) cans of kidney beans
Sunflower: One (12 oz.) cans of kidney beans
Blue Sky: One (4 oz) cans of tomato paste
Willow Forest: One (4 oz) cans of tomato paste
Starflower: Two cans chopped tomatoes (fresh or canned)
Friday, September 30th is Michaelmas at WSRF! Please join us for our annual Fall festival on campus next week and send your students to school on Thursday September 29th with their community soup item! (Details below).
The day begins with a retelling of the story of Saint George and the dragon (a reminder that – as we ease into the cold months of winter – we each carry the courage and light needed to tackle the challenges ahead) and culminates in a school-wide meal, created and shared by students, teachers, and families in celebration of the Fall harvest.
Reminder: 12:30 Early Dismissal on September 30th!
Buses will depart 10 minutes after the 12:30 dismissal
Aftercare will be provided until the usual 5pm

What: Michaelmas: Festival of Courage & Community Meal
The pageant will begin at 8:45am. Parents are welcome to attend! Following the pageant, all students will be participating in team building exercises and games, which will include cross-grade participation and the introduction of the Social LIteracy Program’s 8th grade CREW- a student leadership program that is a part of our Social Literacy Program.
Parents and guardians are welcome to stay for the entire day, just the pageant or come back for the community meal that will begin around 11:45am
We need volunteers to help Ms. Pratt with food preparation, delivery and clean up. Additionally we need insta-pots or other electric pressure cookers in order to prepare the soup for the meal. If you are able to help please contact Ms. Pratt here.
Finally, we need your gently used cardboard. Please drop off boxes in the breezeway of the upper grades hall.
