Current Covid Protocols for '22/'23 School Year
To Act with Empathy and Flexibility: As we proceed through the year, our work is to avoid the hardening of beliefs, opinions, and policies. By focusing foremost on serving the child – with the goal of being In Person and In Community – we will regularly review and adapt our policies to the changing world.
Since the time this was written, we have all witnessed and have been impacted in some degree by COVID. Our understanding of the disease and the impact of our mitigation strategies has been evolving. Thank you for your cooperation and support as we’ve together navigated these trying times.
Administrative Council has conducted a thorough review of our practices. Based on consultation with medical and legal professionals, along with new guidance from CDPHE combined with supportive local covid statistics and national statistics, we understand a shift in our protocols to be low-rick at this time. Below are the school's latest protocols.
COVID Guidelines and Protocols- 2022-2023 School Year
WSRF is committed to in-person learning and is making decisions mitigating COVID transmission based on data and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and from Garfield County Public Health (GCPH). Below is our current COVID policy. Please note that this is based on guidance from health professionals and is subject to change.
Monitoring symptoms remains our top mitigation strategy. All employees and community should monitor for symptoms and stay away from campus if feeling ill. If COVID symptoms are present (fever, sore throat, headache, etc), please test negative prior to coming back to school. CDC guidance recognizes antigen tests (rapid tests) as a viable testing strategy.
Testing positive
Quarantine timeline starts with day 0 on the day of symptoms.
Employees or students may return to school after 5 full days following the onset of symptoms
Masking required upon return for 5 additional days unless two negative tests within a 24 hour period on day 5 of quarantine
Exposure
CDC and CDPH are not requiring isolation for exposure, regardless of vaccination status. The current guidelines put emphasis on monitoring symptoms, staying home if symptomatic and testing when appropriate.

Additional Protocols
Effective February 28th 2022
WSRF will make masks optional on campus, starting 2/28/2022 and effective 3/7/22, masks are optional while being transported by bus.
This is a transition, which may be temporary. If conditions warrant (e.g. due to a new variant), the school protocols may revert to masks required. We hope this will not occur.
If the school experiences an outbreak, GCDPHE will likely impose these guidelines: Outbreak Response Flowchart (02.11.22.)
