Updated FAQs for Campus Re-opening
Dear Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork Families,
Thank you for your patience as we navigate the unique challenges of the 2020-21 school year. We are so very grateful for our community and your dedication to WSRF.
We are committed – as a school and as a community – to doing our utmost to ensure that our students and teachers stay healthy in the months ahead. As we all know, this will only happen with care for ourselves, care for one another, and by following health guidelines and best practices.
Thank you for your flexibility as we approach the start of the school year. We expect that any plan will remain a moving target for the near future. As our understanding of COVID-19 evolves, we will continue to hone and refine our community’s response.
We believe that Waldorf education is best delivered in-person. If forced to return to online learning, we will, but our first goal is to create a space for safe, in-person learning.
When we released the re-opening plan, we encouraged questions and comments. Thank you for your feedback and input. As expected, the most frequent remarks concerned masks and whether or not they will be required of students.
After consulting with area schools and health officials, WSRF has decided to require that all students, Kinderhaus through 8th grade, wear masks when at school in indoor spaces. At the same time, the school will do our best to provide as much outdoor time as permitted, and we are taking immediate steps to create open-air classrooms suitable for learning.
Our community is made up of a diverse group of people, and we respect that some families may disagree with this decision. That said, we ask that both parents and students honor this request. The longer our students and teachers stay healthy, the longer we can continue in-person learning.
We believe that the WSRF family is strong enough to weather the challenges before us. By making these sacrifices for our children, and for the immune-compromised members of our community, we can deliver the excellence in education our students deserve.
No doubt masks will soon become as ubiquitous as sunglasses, scarf, tie, bike shorts, or our running shoes. By donning masks now, we hope to be free of them even sooner.
We hope you will join us in standing together, in defense of our community. An amazing year lies in store, and we cannot wait to have the students back in class.
Finally, if you have questions or concerns about the steps the school is taking to reduce our exposure, please do not hesitate to reach out to any member of Administrative Council.
Sincerely,
Tim Connolly, Faculty Administrator
Larry Smith, Business Administrator
Anne White, Community Development Administrator
